. Well I started with Levi� Strauss South Africa on the 06/07/95.We are situated in Cape Town and I was employed as a D.C. Clerk (Distribution Center) . As we only opened 3 weeks earlier I Worked as a Forklift Driver.
I basically assisted with all the Offloading of the Sewing machines. As time went bye We started to Employ our Sewing Operators and I assisted with The Weekly Pay.
This was all new to me as I had Never done this Type of work ...but it Really was Interesting.
In no time at all we recieved our First Purchase Order from The now finished Factory and Having no computers Installed I had to book them in manually. It worked somewhat like a cardex system. By the Time we were fully Operational I had already accumilated 4 Bookes of written Work. when the Computer System was in place I had to tansfer all the Purchase Orders on to Our Inhouse system. While that was taking place our Analist Programmer Had already wrote a program for another section in our Distribution Center so that We could set it up. This meant that I needed to move 90% of Our Inventory to another Section In the Storage area. 2 Months later We were ready to Ship Our First Order Out the Door.
Things were going fine and I faced many teething Problems on a daily basis but , in the Meantime I had completed My Stores And Stock Control Course as I saw the Room for Growth. A week Later I was given the Responsibility Of Recieving as this was quite a big section to Run. In this Position I found l needed to Communicate with Our Sales Team and On a Daily Basis I needed to Inform our Programmer of flaws In the Programme he was writing. This I am Sure was a bad time for him as he needed to keep up with the Growth of the Facility.
In 1996 Our Product Manager had left the Company as She relocated to another area and Management Decided to Hand A few of her responsibilities to me. I needed to Be Computer Literate and enrolled myself on the Basic Windows� Courses.This helped me to Understand the I.T. function a bit better and I found myself Purchasing my first Computer
Well as time went on I think I got Hooked In the I.T. field as I now
completed my Networking Essentials and A+. I have worked on
486 Computers to Pentium and I find It Interesting as the
field changes on a daily Basis. I repair faulty computers
in my spare time at home and I am teaching myself
HTML as you can see by the Pages I have Designed. I currently hold
the Position of Information Support Analyst in the I.T. Department. As all my work is Confidential
